The "Island of Fernando", Tenerife

The Island of Fernando is the name given to Tenerife on the TV show "Take Me Out"

The show has had great success in the UK, with several series being broadcast over the years. Couples are paired and sent on a short date to the Island of Fernando, which for most of the series' produced is really Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands.

The Isle of Fernando

Tenerife is just over four hours flight time from the UK and has consistently good weather. Its beautiful and often spectacular scenery can often be seen in the footage from the ITV series "Take Me Out".

The cliffs of Los Gigantes, Mount Teide and the island of La Gomera can all be seen making regular apperarances in the show.

Recently, couples have been seen "enjoying" their date in the popular Siam Park which is close to Playa de las Americas.

Contestants will participate in the popular events and activities which are available on Tenerife, just like many British holidaymakers do every year. These have included trips to Siam Park, Loro Parque, water skiing, snorkelling, wine making, and kayaking.

Contestants will get to have a romantic (or not) meal together at one of the many fine restaurants.

The cliffs of Los Gigantes can often be seen in the distance when the couples are on their dates in Tenerife.

Here are some fascinating facts, courtesy of Heat magazine, about "Take Me Out" and the Island of Fernando...

:: The boys and girls are completely seperated from each other in the studios until the show.

:: Once the show has finished filming, the contestants picked for dates have no time to take in the romance of it all, as they are instantly separated and their flights leave at 3am the next morning.

:: While in Tenerife on their date, the girls are chaperoned everywhere by a member of ITV staff.

:: Once the dates are over, the couples fly back from Tenerife together, regardless of how well they got on together!
